edderd...the reality is that Viagra is the first big drug to hit the bigger issue of the NHS ...they have limited resources...
If they do not put some limitations/rationing inplace they have to give up something else to cover the dollars.

The NHS has posed a question to the DR's ...what should they give up??? The final decision will be posted after they get feedback and review. Then we will see the results ...ruling stands as is or some modifications to HNS policies.

<<Can you explain to us how the system works. Do these docs sell Viagra out of their offices? How does the restriction affect their income? We need a little insight into the reason for the inappropriate remarks.

Ed,

When I was in the UK working under the NHS briefly, the primary care doctors would get dinged in the income for exceeding the pharmacy budget. This was over 20 years ago, it may have changed. But the nurses in hospital threaten to strike if they don't get access to the "private" system. The NHS is a colossal failure, but it is matched by the British stoicism, they won't change it.

As someone once said about Britain and America, "Two peoples separated by a common language." Not all the words mean the same in both cultures.
