This chip is used to interface "consumer-type" microprocessors to chips that require a PCI bus interface. It's good for CUBE's DVx chips........

V3 Semiconductor Introduces New PCI Companion Chip for the Popular Hitachi SuperH Processor Family

SANTA CLARA, Calif./TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1999--V3 Semiconductor (NASDAQ:VVVI) announced today the V320USC Revision B0, an Advanced PCI system controller chip that attaches directly to the popular Hitachi SuperH (SH-3 and SH-4) processors to enable them to be used in PCI and CompactPCI applications.

This new addition to the USC family builds upon the proven and successful MIPS processor version. It is fully compliant with PCI 2.2 Specification with speeds up to 75MHZ on the Local Bus and is I2O-Ready. It incorporates such advanced features as PICMG Hot Swap Ready, 640 Bytes of on-chip FIFO memory, 2 scatter/gather DMA engines, PCI Bus Power management Interface Specification Version 1.0, (E)SDRAM Controller with Enhanced SDRAM support, 3.3V operation, 5V tolerant inputs, configurable primary master, bus master and target (slave) PCI operation, and many more essential features that lend ease of design to the system designer and architect. The V320USC is ideally suited to applications such as CompactPCI, Microsoft Windows CE, DTV, telecom and networking.

"With the additional capability of choosing the SuperH interfaces, the V320USC becomes a true universal system controller supporting two of the world's largest selling high end microprocessor platforms," says V3's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Gregg Smith.

Samples of the V320USC B0 and development boards will be available in February of 1999 with production release scheduled for second quarter 1999. The V320USC REV B0, packaged in 208-pin PQFP, is priced at $26.00 for 1,000 pieces.
