maintanence,

A 10,000 tonne sample is an industry standard number that is sufficiently large that it will calm almost anyone's jitters about the viability of a deposit.

However, if the deposit either exhibits very uniform characteristics, or if it is of a relatively smaller size - a smaller sample would suffice.

The bulk sample WSP is currently taking likely would not be the last before a mine is built. The 6000 tonne sample will only serve to show that the goods are there, and hence gain the confidence of the market. The share price will be rewarded by that confidence, and it will just be a formality to do whatever other work needs to be done to secure the financing for a mine.
