From $40 (in the very beginning) to $800, gold's rise was quite similar to something like Yahoo.

That period of about a hundred days corresponds to the major part of the South Sea Bubble mania, too--and to other obscure manias that I have followed in little-known oil stocks. I haven't checked back on the bowling-alley craze. Some psychologist ought to try to find out if there is some norm of infatuation in human nature.
