I am strictly a minor league investor,
but I don't think it is wise to overlook
the change in investor attitudes toward
internet stocks in general.

It is only the FAITH of the average investor
(and the subsequent buy-in of the fund
managers) in these new valuation theories
that has sustained these internet stocks.
That faith was always shaky.

ATHM is a great long-term hold, but when
the internet tide is going against you why
would you not take some profit at 97 and
buy in for an extra 100 or so shares at 80.

I got in about two weeks ago at 82 and will
buy more around that level or lower if I have
the courage to wait for a true bottom. With more
and more investors talking about valuations
and a recent run-up of over 500% on internet
stocks in past 6 months a 'correction' whether
temporary or not could easily see half or more
of those gains taken away.

just an opinion

Esterina; You used the magic word "margin" and it's not so much
if you are on margin, heck the brokers forced this.
I was told some big clients put pressure on the brokers to
run up the margin requirements of internet stocks, in hopes
it would draw some money their way.

Even Fidelity was in on it, this is not the result of shorters
at least not the kind you find on SI, in fact I don't know
anyone who can borrow the stock to short. Except maybe your
friendly broker , and they want that for themselves.
Is your stock in house name ?
