Peter:
I'll be the first to admit that I could be wrong. It's an inexact art, rather than a science, and that Greenspan gift did cause a significant blip up in "last minute" and post-Christmas buying. It's also true that the price cutting was ferocious, which helped move some of the product but also squeezed the margins. The direct sellers are difficult to call, and they have been taking market share (which amazes me) almost every Q. That said, the corporate side has been nasty. Just about all of the resellers are now in and they have been beaten up badly.

Normally, I concern myself more with the revenue growth than the unit growth, but the ASP decline is well recognized by all and we had that one right a long time ago. (g)
I'm sticking with my prognosis, (note that it is a global, not U.S.perspective) but check out the nickname, which is self imposed. (g)
I also thought MU would trade in single digits by last Summer, so that puts my commentary into perspective. (g)

No matter whether I'm right on the money or off by a bit, I'll be a lot closer than the majority of estimates for earnings have been, (at least the early estimates). (g)

More numbers to come. As there's minimal ego at this end I'll happily post if info or data changes the perspective.
Postings are an infrequent affair, but enjoy it when able. This is the favourite hangout.

Best, Earlie

Peter, I just saw the numbers and what I saw was a mess in their formatting. I have to do some work on them or find a better source. However, I would caution that GTW is a consumer seller and not much in the business arena, which is by far the larger part of the pc market and where the largest slowdown is occuring. Just a quick glance at the income statement tells me the earnings are totally phony, but I have more work to do on the revenues, including a look at the quarter last year.
