If that is the case then the IT budgets can go back to paying for the usual upgrades.

IBM's Y2K skills were sold out two years ago. Their services business
is not dependent on Y2K in fact once the Y2K mission critical
applications are completed this year there will be a huge requirement
for services post year 2000 to restructure the more mundane
applications into new code that is network friendly and E@Commerce
compatible.
