RNWK has $100M Cash!
I wrote this into Yahoo! board but got no response. Try Here.
Per MarketGuide, as of 1-20-99, RNWK has about $100M in cash!.
No wonder we need a poison pill. At the current cash 'burn' rate of .05/sh/ qtr, or $1.5M , the future is certain for years. What to do with the cash? Speed growth? Acquisitions? - waiting for a big Internet correction to buy something cheap? At least we don't have to worry about a secondary at low prices to desperately raise cash. Perhaps a small secondary at higher prices... 2 analysts have targeted $100 for RNWK recently. RNWK needs to grow to attract institutional investors. Acquisitions would help. Also needs more shares in the float - a 2-1 split would help. What will happen to that $100M cash?

I added a bit today at 53 1/2. Will add more under 50 if seen. Chart looks like 45 - 46 will give some support. 40 dma at 41. Would like to see the high-volume upside breakout above the old highs hold at 49. Would help establish a new base at 50, and project new trading range of 50 - 100. With earnings due 1-26 or 1-27, we could get another try for new highs above 71 before testing 49.
There is so much negative talk again today about Internet stocks that much of the selling may be over - short term. Barton Biggs was unable to hold down the DJIA since October. Now he is picking on the Internet group. Funny that he waited for YHOO to come down from 440 to 280 before speaking up. And AMZN from 190 to 110. BCST from 280 to 120. Thanks Barton.

Good luck, RNWK longs!

re: vivo

This is a link to the last press releases Vivo had before being acquired by RNWK 9 months ago:

vivo.com

If you open your G2 Realplayer , click on help and check for update, you can see if you need to download the vivoactive player...sometimes it seems to have better quality with less buffering...and sometimes not :o) :o(

I read a lot on these boards and very little if anything is ever said about the vivo player being in Realnetworks' stable. I hope to be able to read some info about how that is working in the upcoming earnings announcement. On one site I was able to watch clips from the movie 'Titanic', they had to stop to buffer with my 56K modem running between 28.8 and 44.4, but the picture and sound was pretty good quality for such low bandwidth coming into my house in a rural little town.

After you have downloaded the upgrade, go back to my last post and view the video. Or you can go to:

vivo.com

and do some looking around the site for yourself.

I'm not an expert, but I have been invested in Realnetworks since last April, and I do a lot of searching for info about the company and what they are in to all over the 'net. My main focus for next week's earnings announcement will be the gain in revenue. It will be hard to show much of a gain in profits when the company is working so hard and spending to improve their product, R & D, hiring new people, etc.

Well, I'm off to bed, but I wanted to reply to your post...
