After reading all the complaints regarding Etrade customer service and trading rules, I decided to write a letter to Christos Cotsakos, CEO of Etrade. I think that as shareholders we would all like to see the problems corrected and complaining about it really does no good. My letter pointed out that from my perspective, Etrade has two problems, 1) is their service orientation, easily fixed through education, bonus programs, etc. making their service reps interested in being service oriented. 2) its a marketing problem. All traders expect superior service, even though they are a discount broker. Its a matter of perception and value. By created two tiers of support, one for all investors and one for premium service (large investors or for additional cost) they can better prioritize the calls comming in. The gentleman who lost $50K and needed to reach someone immediately, I'm sure would have paid a few extra dollars to reach a "live" service rep on the first call.

I encourage you to become part of the solution.

Michael
