Craig - Re: "I can't wait for the day when someone steals an Intel executive's portable and empties his bank account. "

Stealing a credit card or a check book - each with account numbers printed DIRECTLY ON THE FACE of the card or check - is a much easier way that can - and IS - DONE daily - and has been DONE for years.

WHERE IS YOUR RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION CALLING FOR THE BAN OF PRINTED CHECKS AND EMBOSSED CREDIT CARDS ?

You are jumping into Panic Mode 1 without understanding the key technical issues simply because you feel threatened by Intel's advancing technological lead over its competitors.

My suggestion - don't buy Intel's Pentium III.

Save yourself an ulcer.

Intel can do nicely without your business.

Paul

Craig, RE: "it's more likely than not that the chips will be pulled and resold several times before they dial up the Internet again"

I plan to trade up early from my K6-2 to the 3 when it comes out @ 500+ mhz. I would assume that would not be allowed with embedded code.

Intelisnooping is a BAD idea. It opens the possibility of government snooping on my web access.
