Bob B.,

A very clear, rational, cogent post....discussing both the pro's and the con's without a condescending attitude!!!

These are the the kind of posts I love to read.....since I certainly don't know everything (like some who deign to actually "let us in on" their brilliant analyses) and haven't thought of everything, another's view of things for me to consider and add to my overall "bottom line" assessment of my investment is a good thing.

I certainly don't consider myself some kind of "wizard". I'm just like the rest of you (well most of you), an average "schmuck" trying to make a little money in the biggest gambling casino in the world.....and need all the help I can get in understanding my investments.

Some may have thought my little story was good....this one has to be right up there with mine.

Because of Iomega's near lock in this market segment, I just can't help thinking that they eventually will make us more money than we thought possible. I've got lots of patience and still think I've invested my cash in a great company with really ingenious, innovative products.

Thanks again Bob B. for the great post...you obviously put a lot of thought into it.

Dave

>>>My prediction for 1999 EPS is .70, regardless of what Glore does to the 1st quarter.

I believe your EPS prediction is to high. During the conference call IOM management said to expect net income to be in the middle single digits as a percent of revenues for all of 99. This guidance can be replayed at the Vcall site, which recorded the CC. Its around the 32 minute mark. Check out my posting #6428. For an EPS of .70 IOM would need sales of $4 billion in 99. A pretty high number to achieve. Of course if they achieve 10% net income as a percent of sales then IOM would need only $2 billion in sales. Given IOM guidance .70 just seems way to high for IOM to make.
