This is generally a "finder's fee" payable to the party arranging for a private placement, often upon the signing of a contract, but before the exchange of funds. It isn't (or at least I've never heard of it) being paid just for an introduction. A deal has to be reached for the "finder" to earn their fee. The fact that the "finder(s)" took payment in stock rather than cash out of the PP would seem to indicate that at least they have hopes for MINE!
