If my neighbor told me he was considering selling his house for $500, don't be expecting me to put a "For Sale" sign outside of mine for $450. (He got a nicer house.) And if he did tell me that, and I did sell mine for $450, but he never sold his for $500, well, maybe that does make him manipulative, but it just makes me a damned idiot for selling mine.
