Stephen: Sorry, TRIN is not an area of which I have any expertise.

Can someone else with broader knowledge help?

TRIN is a Short term trading indicator based on Up Volume vs. Down Vol. I prefer to check Acc/Distr data directly: quote.yahoo.com

This shows NYSE under fairly heavy distribution, and Nasdaq with a slight accumulation.

Arms Index aka TRading INdex (TRIN):

An advance/decline stock market indicator. A reading of less than
1.0 indicates bullish demand, while greater than 1.0 is bearish.
The index is often smoothed with a simple moving average.

Formula....

No of Adv. Issues
------------------
No of Dec. Issues
TRIN= ------------------
Total Up Volume
------------------
Total Down Volume
