Is this a temporary situation? In other words, does IE just provide some functionality you plan on rewriting yourself, or is this going to be the case from now on?

IE4 components are embedded across the operating system now. Some common dialogs are shipped with IE4, the internet downloader will need IE4 components, the Win98 help system - HTML help needs IE4 to display help files. We will be using HTML help in future releases.

We're in a Microsoft environment, and it will be pretty hard to ignore IE4+ in future software.
