Paul, he's saying that these vendors are subsidizing their K6-2 sales by charging exorbitant prices on additional components that the purchaser is REQUIRED to buy. That way, they can advertise the lowest price on pricewatch. So sure, you can buy the CPU for $153. But you also HAVE to buy a $4 (market value) fan for $14 and $5 (market value) shipping for $15. Other vendors charging more for the CPU on pricewatch will offer much more reasonable (market) shipping rates, and give you the OPTION to buy the fan. Get it? The vendor has tiny margins on the CPU, so he can advertise it cheap--then he makes it up on shipping and fans. To put it in terms you're probably familiar with, McDonald's may offer a $0.99 "deal" on a Big Mac, expecting to make up the difference in high margin fries and sodas. If you think the guy charging the lowest price on pricewatch is always the cheapest to buy from, then you really are the fool. Kevin

You are a total fool, Engel. I said YOU cannot buy a K6-2-400 for $153 and you CAN'T. If a bank gave away K6-2-400's for FREE for opening a $10,000 account, would you claim that AMD was giving them away? Two sources are listed and both are selling the 400 MHz K6-2 CPU for $153 I just told you idiot that I checked the first source and THE AD IS LYING. The minimum you have to send them is $182. Obviously they make their profit on shipping and selling $3 fans for $15. SHOW ME A CREDIT CARD RECEIPT FOR A K6-400 FOR $153 DATED 1/22/99 AND I'LL BUY IT FROM YOU (WITH WARRANTY) Petz
