(OT) How fascinating that you choose the Burr-Hamilton duel for your metaphor. I was just discussing, given our President's circumstances, the fact that Aaron Burr killed Hamilton while he was vice-president of the United States. He was indicted for murder in New Jersey (having nothing to do with the way he was dressed, incidently), and the indictment pended throughout the term of his vice-presidency.

He was not, as we all know, impeached as a result of the murder and served his term to its conclusion despite the pendancy of the murder indictment. Notably, most of the founding fathers, who authored or signed the constitution in 1789, were still alive and none voiced distress that our vice-president should serve while a murder charge hung over his head.

The point is to contrast the seriousness of the perjury and obstruction of justice allegations with murder, and that the founding fathers had no qualm with a murderous vice-president serving out his term.
