Who wrote that fairy tale? For instance, Max Hugel is a former client of my firm. I know he has sued and won judgments against folks impugning his integrity and honesty in his dealings as an official during the Reagan years. The "history" is being written alright! Sounds like its being written by people who play fast and loose with the truth. JLA

Borzou,

The so-called "October Surprise" -- the canard about Reagan and Bush orchestrating a delay of the hostage release -- has been fully investigated and discredited. I am not surprised that it lingers in certain circles, just as the "innocence" of Alger Hiss and the Rosenberg's does.

When a supposedly serious piece of scholarship can't get through a paragraph without a discredited whopper I tend to consider the source and pass over the rest. Time's too short.
