Think of how long it took to kill records and they are still out there. Yes, the cassette is still functional in many areas and the purchase choice still is there. We use both or all three in our homes. I've got a bunch of old records and a load of cassettes.

A new system also requires capital outlay. It will be with reluctance if the old system was near perfect to most.
