Jim- it was the consumer portable.

My guess is a iMac laptop. USB connector, IRed and phone plug only. CD or DVD- maybe neither?

Questions: how big is the screen, how low is the price. Whole of Asia is building lcd screens as cheap as possible...

When? NSBA, April 10. It's the replacement for the eMate. Total guess.

"Wonder if the date will move out as FY992Q ends just after it on 3/26/99?"

They changed the annual meeting date 2-3 times last year. I don't think that will happen again though.

"Can't remember if was a portable , or a under $1,000 MAC , that was promised at the meeting last year. Do you recall what Mr J told the gentleman in the audience who asked about a "low cost" AAPL computer?"

I was at the annual meeting and as I remember it Jobs didn't really "promise" anything. An elderly lady asked whether Apple has plans to produce a low cost Mac (I thing the price range she mentioned was $800) Most people at the shareholder's meeting laughed when the heard the question because the PowerMac G3s were priced between $1700-$3800 and the iMac project still unknown to the public. Jobs simply told the lady to ask him again next year. Various Mac sites took Jobs comment as a promise and the price target quite literally.
