Hey pezz,

<<How about if a condom is used? What is your reasoning then?

It's not about bill clinton lying or committing criminal acts. It has nothing to do with the issues being debated in this mock senate trial. It is about the economy, stupid. The only thing that is really relevant to bill clinton is the abortion issue, which isn't really about abortion as much as it is about an individual woman's independence to do as they please in the US. bill is seen as some sort of guard to these much more informal issues.

Years ago I was a High School teacher. The decade of safe sex was ushered in by "cool" parents. They had it all. They didn't approve of teen sex "of course." However, they were so hip that they understood their teen agers were doing it anyway so the attitude was, let's make sure they are protected ala "safe sex."

Adolescence by definition is a period of transition. During this time it is normal to go back and forth into and out of adult thinking. At times a normal adolescent feels and behaves as the adult in charge of their lives. At other times they feel and behave as a child and the decisions and limits on their action is seen as an externally controlled phenomenon. Obviously within the range of normal there are extremes of exemplary adolescent behavior. Some teenagers almost always behave as if they are the adults in charge of decisions made in their lives and some, almost never behave that way.

During this period of our history we changed our perspective on what a teenager is. Prior to this time we had a society where children under the age of 18-21 (varied) were seen as under our (adult) protection, and our responsibility. We saw teens who got pregnant as some how slipping through the cracks. They were the exception.

The often referred to home for unwed mothers, or illegal abortion are now exaggerated with horror stories of back alley butcherings and pervita devil type of matron situations. Modern kids would never opt for that and their cool parents are practically giving them condoms for birthdays and little abortion kits for christmas. We don't want to be fuddy duddies do we?

We took the responsible adult in charge out of the decision making process and turned it over to the brilliance of an unthinking condom in the wallet of some zit faced kid. Some times that kid is thinking as a responsible adult, some times not.

Well, those kids have now grown up and have kids of their own. There were never adults in charge of their sexuality. It is an alien concept that a sexual person (starts at puberty for most) should have anyone else putting limits on them and their sexuality. It is now very uncool for an adult to have an "attitude" of any kind about teen sex.

So, to answer your question; there is no reasoning necessary if you are willing to turn society over to the premise of the availability of a condom. You also don't have to feel that 1.4 million abortions per year in the US and millions of teen parent households reflect back on you in any way. Nice, huh. You can live in your bachelor pad during your forties, have your fun, and kiss off the future generations that will never have the opportunities you've benefitted from. They're on there own. But don't look for "reasoning" from me that makes it "feel good" and like everything is "ok." Jerry Springer, Ricky Lake, and now I guess we can add Larry Flynt are there for ya.
