Taichi- ATT Trimode is because ATT used the PCS spectrum to "fill in" holes in the old McCaw Cellular system to provide a national footprint. There insight was that customers don't care whether their call goes on 1900Mhz or 800Mhz but they do care about coverage. Hence the Tri-mode phone is analog, TDMA on 1900Mhz (PCS spectrum) and TDMA on 800 MhZ. They muddied the water by announcing the first PCS (but it wasn't really ALL PCS). Hope this helps. tom
