Uhh, am I off on my card/slot counting concerning my last post?

Yes, ATX cases are seven slot cases. Some (many) ATX mobos have a shared PCI/ISA slot. You can only use one of the shared connectors. The max available slots in a standard ATX board is seven.

Shared slots.

To expand slightly on ZP's answer, they're shared exactly
because they use the same case slot physically (and
internally would interfere with each other physically
because the components of ISA cards and PCI cards are
on opposite sides of the board).

My first PCI mobo did not have integrated serial/parallel/IDE
controllers. There was a separate controller which plugged
into the shared PCI slot for IDE with a tiny daughter card
that plugged into the shared ISA slot for serial/parallel.
Essentially the daughter card had only a cable connecting
it to the PCI card, so it took almost no vertical space.
Pretty clever. Mobo was a dog, though<g>.

Paul

When I wrote my questions about ASUS dimensions I had it in my head you'd already bought a P2B-L. In going back over my notes it looks like you were only thinking about buying that MoBo and I may have made a bad assumption (there's that word again). Sorry about that.
