And the cablecos don't have a monopoly? Does anyone reading this have a choice of cable providers? I think this is the exact argument being used by those who would like the FCC to force the cablecos to open their lines -- the cablecos got to build those lines under a govt.-sanctioned monopoly so now they should be forced to share them. Greg, please understand that this is *absolutely not* a personal attack, it is just totally contrary to my understanding of the issue.

Interesting postulation.

Another possibility is that the RBOCs will then give up on becoming ISPs since there is not much profit for them in doing so and as a result will be looking to sell what operations they have.
