John, thank you for the informative post.

One would think the early adoption of voice over IP would be the call center. Consumer coming in over internet via PC, then connecting through to live agent and having a 2 way voice and data discussion. Eventually video.

I thinking out loud but voice over IP is a data to data connection (PC to PC) with voice features built in.

Years before a caller originating a call from an analog telephone at home would be VOIP??? Or even from a phone originating from a digital PBX.

Is the call center/website the spawning ground for VOIP??
