Very true - a "suckers rally" in Amazon and some other Internet stock can be up 25%-50%. I think the general market is going to see a broad rally over the next three months. The case for this has been growing because of all the problems the market has been dealing with. Despite the problems (or rather the emergence of them into public consciousness) the market has been selling off rather mildly. I think this drain on the markets will wear off, that most of the investment emphasis will go into the "value plays" and to reward stronger-than-expected performance and new issues and acquisitions. But I expect the Internet to benefit as well - just not as much as in recent moves. The trend for the Internet will be down, IMO over the next several months. Over the short term a continuation of the bounce is likely. If the market perks up into a full blown rally and if better than expected results and indications come out of Amazon and other Internets, then they could rally higher. I don't expect that to happen, but it could. Am I hedging? You bet your bippy - how can I not when all the facts are yet to roll in? But for the mid-term horizon I see less to get the market excited about the Internet sector than we have had recently and less excitement will lead to lower prices. The longer-term TA indicators have deteriorated and if my hunches are correct will continue to do so despite an intervening rally or two.
