NW,

The Max-Pain&#153 effect is a 'second order' effect. It is swamped out by events that create large momentum, buy side or sell side eg earnings reports, news releases, analyst up/downgrades, etc. So, I am not surprised to see 'reality' hitting on either side of the Max-Pain Point&#153 at times. This is just an 'indicator' I am trying to study that may give us a clue of where the stock price might go, all things being equal.
