Karim-- I read this interesting article, I think I am in for a quick trade from where I entered already AMZN is nearly 30 point up, that was my take that this is the support at 50 days- it has always been my belief that 90 out of 100 times herdish opinion is not the right opinion, on that particular day when it was selling hard my reason to enter was based on a bounce back as I could see shorts at 190 level going for the cover.. right now I am just looking it as trade. I reiterate that 'internets' for me is a trade and will remain as such. My exit is very tight and I will be out if DOT breaks that 472 level for more than 45 minutes any day...

As you know I had highlighted 'Soft bank' a Japanese stock on this page last week at 62, this is also mentioned as holding big stakes in Yahoo. For me these stocks will come down to earth but I have many a times played pure opportunities and gotten out of them. This is also one such trade.. I agree that 'Yahoo' earnings may have been helped as suggested by the paper..Look at Lycos,...also..

Karim--OT---------------------------OT
I missed your post sorry..Thanks for the telephone call- I will most probably make to Karachi for 30th party.I confirm..On 29th night I will be in Sheraton and probably stay there for three days.. We should see each other before you leave for US.. I have also to go for the second cricket test match in India and have decided to take the bus route to Delhi from Lahore .. So looking forward to lot of unrelated market activity...

NOK.A earnings I will let you know today.. DIIG and USF I am closely watching them and will like to play the DIIG pre-earnings.. JBIL I will like to enter at 65ish I think this market can go to 360 test on SOX if fear keep dominating the market but I will watch this Composite very closely..

I was wondering PTCL if Goldman- Sachs is coming to Pakistan we should see some activity and let me know your opinion on Ibrahim Fibre.. Are you still positive? PKF in my opinion will go higher within a week after Paric club meets. The 'Finance Minister' left for Kuwait last night on his way to Paris soon after we have this the London Club, if two agreements are secured market moves much higher taking out 1120 resitance. US has a definite change in stance and IMF/World Bank nod was more a result of political decision than a economic one and the nod came from the highest office in US.. Things look little better and we hope we will not miss the chance this time to put the economy on the right tracks..

Re: Party in Karachi

The "Idea" Thread,

It was my pleasure to invite Mr. Iqbal Latif as the honored guest to a party in the port city of Karachi, Pakistan. Ike was very gracious to fly out from Islamabad, the capital which is situated at the footsteps of the mighty Karakoram and Himalayan mountain ranges, to Karachi, almost 900 miles south, the country's most populous city, a bustling metropolis of some 12 million people located on the banks of the Arabian Sea in the Indian Ocean.

The party, held this past Saturday, was arranged at the sea side apartment of my friend Mr. Zahid Rafiq, overlooking a moonlit Clifton beach. The view of Oyster Islands afforded from the terrace of the high rise apartment was breathtaking. I had invited a cross section of Karachi's movers and shaker's. From Mr. Amin Gulgee a prominent Pakistani artist who's work is frequently exhibited in art galleries in New York City, Paris, Venice and other cities to Mr. Ardy Cowasgee, scion of a wealthy Pakistani shipping family. Included amongst the 30 odd guests: Mr. John McCarry an American writer for National Geographics, originally from Boston, Massachusetts but who now calls Karachi his home; Ms. Rashida Masood, a prominent Pakistani fashion designer; Mr. Alyshah Allana, member of a well known political family and brother of Mr. Karim Allana a poster on this thread. Also invited were many local doctors (just in case ;) ), businessmen, investors and artists.

Over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, an au courant Ike discussed just about any and every subject with the invited guests. Personally, I have known Ike for more than two years through SI and like everyone else am accustomed to his smarts. But on our first meeting, it was his sense of humor that for me was the most pleasant surprise. His wit is as sharp as his analysis is incisive and he had the guests in stitches! Most of those invited are investors in the American equity market(s) and a few are also lurkers on Silicon Investor. It was nice to see that SI regulars like Judy, Sonki, James Strauss, J.T., Lee, Ground Zero, Big Bucks, Tom Trader, Bill Hueb, David Plonk, Alien Tech, O.J. (who btw, elicited the biggest reaction) and others are followed with equal interest on the other side of the globe as they are in the US! Ike, who is constantly espousing the virtues of this Global community on the thread, was happy to meet a few of the denizens of SI and to see that they were just as enthusiastic about the revolution that the Internet has unleashed.

Later in the apartment's disco room replete with every conceivable lighting and sound gadget, it was fun to see Ike let his hair down and wiggle his booty to the beat of music with the same precision as he does when making his daily calls on the gyrations of the markets. Everyone was having so much fun on the dance floor that it was not until way past 1:30 a.m., when we finally all sat down for dinner! Then later over tea and coffee the guests exchanged some more banter and it was much after 5:00 in the morning when we finally called it an evening! A Wonderful Evening!

Hope we can arrange more such parties in different parts of the world and thus get an opportunity to put a face to the name of the various posters...

Regards to All,
Karim
