DD, It all hinges on the funds. If you get a few of those siding with ABX then ABX will win. I suspect Newmont will stay until the end and then take whatever. Unless of course they weigh in with a bid this week. Hard to predict as there are valid reasons for each position. The big problem is selling out to ABX throws away the huge potential that ARP has. Look at how those who sold Arequipa too early regretted it.
I vote to wait.
