Thank you Lillian and Terry for your pointers to the news stories. They both make for very interesting reading indeed.

For those of you reading the National Post report. Note: Franco-Nevada has some warrants that few people are aware of. They are on the TSE and if this proves to be true, could provide an interesting way of investing in Aber (and as a result, the whole Winspear thing).

Short Positions, and National Post Article comment:
Note that the article mentioned “Winspear shares hit a record $4.45 on Dec. 31 following the release of strong sample results from diamond bearing kimberlite PIPE in the Snap Lake area.”
It has been at $4.85 in 1999 and has no pipe ... yet. Its a good thing they didn't get the grade and valuations wrong. The article should bring some new interest in Winspear.

I noticed in the short positions: as of 1/15/99 there were 59,700 shorted, compared to 197,500 on 12/31/98. Major General Resources had 75,000 short on 1/15/99 compared to 6,000 12/31/98. With an average daily volume of 40,000 shares, this is quite a jump for them. I believe Kaiser put out a buy recommendation in that period on MGJ.

Thanks Terry for digging up the link.

Sure is nice to see some civilized posting going on. Great stuff Walt, Marcos, BB, and the others around this weekend. I will predict another 300 post weekend coming up next week though...Till later
