It will happen in the companies first. Instead of NT, put in linux servers. This is happening frequently now. The squeeze and battle will be on the server first. If that takes off. Software developers prefer Unix generally for building client server applications. Linux will get the edge here, I believe. I really believe the corporate marketplace is ripe for an OS battle.
Another point. Corporations like to rule their own destiny. Linux provides the source code. If there is a bug, one can simply go in and fix it, rather than wait for Gates.
Just my thoughts.
