>>Perhaps the most important thing that IOMEGA has going for it is brand name recognition... It is working on third and fourth generation Zip drives while the competition is still struggling with their entry drives... There is no doubt that IOM is the Dominant company in its sector....<<

I see the Fruitball is at it again. I've been noticing that most iMacs are connected to Superdisc drives, not Zips. And I was in CompUSA this past week and saw a lot more Superdisc drives built-in (especially Compaq machines) than Zips.

Iomega is working on 3rd and 4th generation drives? Hey, great. CD-R/W drives are shipping on their 5th and 6th generation drives (which are faster than Zip drives) and taking a lot of market share away from Iomega. Witness the declining Jaz sales year to year. You just can't beat the price of CD media.

Throughout all this, I have but one question:

Q:They say Iomega is trying to change to an OEM model. How can they do this with fewer and fewer OEM's?

A: They can't.
