>Ice, you really are clueless.

Steve,

There is no need to conclude I'm "clueless" just because I simply asked a question. You are the one who said you'd "help" us "fools", so let me rephrase my question in a way that might clarify what I was asking, and in a way that might prompt a more constructive response...

I can't blindly accept a rumor, in and of itself, as necessarily being helpful just because it's out there floating around. So for those of us who may hold shares of BID, how do you think the rumor you posted about Christies is supposed to "help" us, as you suggested?

Exactly how is the rumor helpful? Are you suggesting we act in some way to the rumor? Do we buy shares of BID based upon your rumor? Do we sell shares of BID based upon your rumor? Do we hold shares of BID based upon your rumor? Do we sell shares short based upon your rumor? Or do we do nothing? In other words, how do you think the rumor about Christies will, if and when it becomes a matter of fact, affect Sotheby's and Sotheby's stock price - if at all?

I can think of many ways your rumor can be interpreted. I have my own ideas. But what might be helpful, IMO, isn't so much the rumor itself, as your insights into how you think the rumor would best be interpreted or applied.

BTW, perhaps from your perspective your post is not a rumor and is in fact more than a rumor. But from my perspective, and I presume from the perspective of some others, that's exactly what it appears to be at the present time.
