Very informative discussion, I like to hear from people who are near the industry and understand the technology.

Happy to do the best for you but there are clearly better techies on this thread than me , but here goes.
We have now confirmed from three sources here all of whom spoke to
Insignia's IR manager Reid Cox and he confirmed that Jene sits
under JINI. However while some suggest that JENE is mandatory, others
suggest it is not, but, that somebody's embedded machine must.

Either way, it is reasonable to assume that (putting it simply)
Sun's own Embedded System is a tired/jaded product, and INSGY's is the best around, so I draw from that Sun would be well advised to use an
embedded VIRTUAL system. That assumption leads everyone here to
believe that the INSGY EVM (JENE) is the "Best of Breed", and so
the excitement grows because everything else follows..........
