the popup menu
that appears is
divided by a horizontal bar.

I was wondering what that division was for, thanks Spots

The ones that run automatically when NT starts are in two places.

I am Administrator. Both my administrator and All User Startup folders are empty. I'm back to the functioning 3.60 Matrox driver from the cd which has placed all the now working Matrox PowerDesk NT shortcuts in a folder by that name in the All Users Programs folder . Path is c:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Startmenu\Programs\Matrox PowerDesk NT\ (various shortcuts). The startup folder is on the same level as Matrox PowerDesk..... and is empty.

To check the non-functioning 3.68 driver shortcuts I'd have to uninstall the working version and reinstall 3,68 to look at its shortcut paths. For the time being I don't want to do that again. But now I know how to proceed to check shortcut paths. Its really quite neat burrowing down to the individual shortcut folders. Your description of the procedure was really 'Spot' on<g>

So currently I've gotten rid of the cursur and shutdown problems, w98 is running with Matrox 3.68 and nt is running 3.60 both with no problems. The only nagging little display related naggles left that have sprung up in the last couple days since I installed the new monitor and Matrox sw are:

1. That message that comes up right after nt logon about not finding C:\Program. I just click OK and there does not appear to be any other mention or unwanted effects from it. From my reading in Explore there is no C:\Program to be found. There's C:\Program Files and there's C:\Winnt\Profiles\Administrator & AllUsers\Start Menu\Programs. I don't know where the problem lies. Either nt is looking for the wrong file or that file should exist where it now does not.

2. I assume because the g200 monitor database does not include my exact monitor ( it has the 445Xi, but not the 445XiPlus) my resolutions and refresh rates are not matching up as indicated by Nokia and I don't have the 100 Hz option for 1280x1024, not that I'd use it. I pretty sure this Nokia is PnP so wouldn't this info be in the monitors memory? The Nokia manual says not to use their install disks with Wnt.

Not a bad display/video card integration but not perfect (yet) either.

Clarence

BTW I like this Nokia 445XiPlus alot. Its front panel screen controls are easily usable. Brightnest and contrast are just turning knobs and all the other controls are accessed onscreen by another knob/button so all controls are implemented thru just three knob/buttons. Thers also a BNC/D-sub switch button to be able to run two computers. For under $800 I'm very impressed..
