I liked it- Les Miserables that is. A Thousand Acres is not particularly life affirming, imo, and in adapting Lear to the modern age the plot has been strained - especially with the inclusion of molestation. So although I like sad GOOD movies (like Chinese Box and Wings of the Dove) I did not like A Thousand Acres and would in fact go so far as to call it a doggy movie and a waste of all the really great acting talent that went into it.
