When governments sell their telcos they call it privatization. For instance, the former Tlebrás companies are now 'private'. The Thatcher administration sold BT to privtae investors, so I consider it private.

But lets go back to ATM in the junction network. Not bad for Ericsson a "wireless" company. The 'foot in the door' of Ericsson in BT has big potential. Lets leave Nokia making starwberry-colored handies.

POne insight: Steve Jobs is doing for the MAC (with the iMAC) what Nokia is doing for celluar phones.

Marden,

I find it confusing as well, and I am from over there. A government company does get privatised but only to be listed as a PLC (Public Limited Company). Confusing as all get out. BT is a class operation though and I guess thats whats important here.

Any idea what earnings will be like? I know long term ERICY is a good bet but I see massive stock price volatility over the next year, so am still waiting on the side lines. Clearly, until we know the earnings and the projected earnings for the coming quarter this stock looks stuck around these levels. Or am I wrong (again ;-) ).

Good investing.

Richard.

p.s. Consider this one of the best threads on SI, well done to all.
