Way off base, lizzard. Clinton's pressures were all self induced by lust and gluttony. Reagan had to fix Carter's misery index. And that he did, launching a 20-year boon that even the likes of Bubba couldn't dent.

Reagan couldn't even string 4 sentences together that made sense
In his defense, I don't think Reagan lost his mind until after he was shot.

C'mon, JLA, Reagan couldn't even string 4 sentences together that made sense unless it was teleprompted or scripted. By now he'd be blubbering like the damn fool he really was if he had a tenth the pressure and bull heaped upon him that President Clinton has.

Just an opinion, but I thought Reagan did pretty well in the pre-election debates, especially the first one. In any case he did well enough to get elected (with a majority of the votes, unlike BC). I guess at the time you felt like we do now, wondering how such a buffoon could not only get elected, but be very popular.

Lazarre: Reagan was known as the "great communicator". I had the opportunity to meet the man in NH at a political forum when he was candidate Reagan. I spoke with him personally and I was greatly impressed by his wit, his charm and his politics. I don't believe all the bunk'em I read in the papers and other media about Reagan. I worked for both his campaigns here in NH. You should not believe all that hoo-haa the media has spewed forth either. As for the battle in the Senate trial, I, like the House managers, would prefer to go down fighting to the last man. The principles at stake are very important despite the potential political fallout to the Repub party, I believe they must be pursued to the "bitter end". I suspect in the final analysis, Clinton will escape the justice he truly deserves. No doubt he has been badly scarred already, however, I believe his actions warrant removal and nothing less. The rule of law protects us all Lazarre and Mr. Clinton has shredded it. JLA
