If I remember right the reference to wood in the Kimberlite is from one of the Diamet pipes. Speculation is that when the pipe erupted to surface a tree was sucked back into the soup as it gurgled and bubbled away. The little black coal like particles are likely either the result of carbon material (similiar to what could be diamonds) depressurizing at a lower temperature than what would be sufficient for forming diamonds or there were simply some coal beds close to the granite(country rock) that was melded with the kimberlite material.
Diamonds will only survive the trip to surface in a certain temperature window--too hot they are vapourized--too cool they become coal like as opposed to diamonds.

Thanks Senior Marcos,

" a range of diamond-bearing kimberlite breccia boulders was located last fall on the southwest shore of Snap Lake. Small black fragments observed in some of these boulders have been identified.."

so it's NOT kimberlite it's kimberlite breccia.. and it was found on surface..not drilling... assuming the wood comes from the surface this would indicate the kimberlite breccia with the wood came from the bottom of a crater/pipe .. and the crater/pipe was eroded..

gonna need Average Joe, Walt or Vaughen to straiten things out here !

wood in boulder on surface = pipe is long gone IMO
