I am not a lawyer or an expert in SEC rules.
It is my understanding however, that if you have inside information that is not privy to the public and intend to benefit from it by buying or selling shares on it then, that is illegal.
If you get the information from your "crystal ball," Like you apparently did about Mr. Chu and Company then I guess that would not be considered insider information but information form an "higher authority."
