>As soon as the news is released, there exists a better than 50% chance BID price declines significantly.

Steve,

Let's assume for the moment you are correct. Is there some way to distinguish between a decline in BID's stock price due to the upcoming Christies news you mentioned, and a decline that would have occurred normally in the absense of any such news?

My experience has been that if a stock's price is going to move in reaction to publicly available news, it will do so within a matter of minutes. So if and when Christies news is released, I think it would be interesting to monitor BID's stock price at that time and see what happens. Hopefully, you or someone will post any Christies news here on this thread if and when it happens. I will if I see any.

On the other hand, isn't it possible that BID's stock price already has reacted to, and discounted, [at least to a certain extent] whatever news Christies may or may not be going to release?

I guess, in effect what I'm asking is how we'll ever know whether or not there is any direct relationship between BID's stock price and news from Christies.

Any thoughts on that?

BTW, I appreciate your answer to my questions and for clearly stating that your response was your personal opinion.

Ice

I am a bit confused by your post: did you imply that
BID does not have a large short position out there? What is
the basis for your info?
thanks
