Engel: I am a very experienced internet forum poster...so here are some tips...Never let anyone scream you off a board (and no further comment on that should be needed)...Stick to the subject and make a presentation (and no other activities)...and if someone should scream and slander rather than discuss an issue...then get serious (and that stands). But here I go back to the issue...web sites cannot track internet usage of consumer IP addresses...because most ISPs assign dynamic IP addresses...so the chip ID number (serial number) is a means AROUND this...as the chip ID number CAN be logged by web sites...Then the web sites sell the hits to market research firms and the market research firms map internet activities by chip ID number (serial number)...The strangest thing is the question...why is Intel getting involved in this? As a large shareholder (indirectly) in Intel I am boiling mad over this senseless forage into a new feature and innovation that does not serve the ultimate market...the consumer. And I think that Intel is going to have to eat crow over this...Finally is Intel going to have its corporate internet activities logged when it does research on the Internet? Well...they will probably just turn the feature off...but they know to do that...Lets call this the "hardware cookie"...but wouldn't a software cookie...to fit the internet financial need argument...be a better solution...
