Yiwu, you could get Datek to cut and mail you a check for $50k in my example. The margin loan would be against the $100k of IBM. Remember, you only need $50k to purchase $100k of stock. Of course a margin call would come based on the long stock position, and the mutuals wouldn't figure into it.
