Before you become too skeptical of Mark McGwire, remember that in 1995,1996 and 1997 his HR/ AB ratio was as good as in 1998. In fact , his career ratio is close to that of Babe Ruth. So it has long been a question of whether he could stay healthy for a full season. If so, then the records were going to happen. Further, no matter how big and strong the player may be, he still must make contact with the ball. That requires excellent eye to hand coordination, studying pitchers and practice, practice, practice. Every gym in America has some big, strong guys who take diet supplements to enhance their workouts, but they can't hit a baseball. There is no pill or powder you can take that will make you a hitter. Go out to your local batting cage and give it a try. You will see what I mean.
