Dennis, if you are looking for a good book on options you might want to try looking at "Options as a strategic investment" by McMillan. Covers a lot of option plays, makes it pretty clear what can happen on both the up and downside. Also, like someone else mentioned, most brokers are going to want to see previous option experience (covered calls, spreads etc) or some big time net worth in your account before they will let you sell naked calls or puts.
