You have a short memory.

Its the sub $1000 PC that is supposed to work in AMD's favor - as you used to constantly put forth in your own FUD program.

Checked the AMD and Intel financial statements lately?

Shouldn't have traded that Intel stock for AMD, Gene !

RE:"While contending the feature can be turned off,
it needs to be done on every boot-up, and the PC challenged may be wary."...

Come again? You have to turn it off everytime you start the computer?
So you need a program that unloads it everytime you boot?

Jim

Gene,

Given the Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt created by the above questions, wouldn't this actually be in AMD's favor?

I don't think there is any question that Intel has created a very serious problem for themselves, and that their competitors will attempt to capitalize on it.

The way I see it, Intel needs to immediately make a decision to back this stuff out of PIII, or face a public relations nightmare. These features offer no obvious benefit to the typical PC user, but raise a lot of questions about privacy. The longer they let this fester, the greater the temptation for OEM's to jump ship.
