Now I'm a good old rebel
And that's just what I am
For this fair land of freedom
I do not give a damn.

I'm glad we fit against it
I only wish we'd won
And I don't want no amnesty
For anything I've done.

I followed old Marse Robert
Three years or thereabout
Got wounded in three places
And starved at Point Lookout

I cotched the rumatism
From camping in the snow
And the lying thieving yankees
I hates them more and more

Now I can't take my musket
And fight 'em any more
But I ain't gonna love 'em
and that for sartin sure.

I hates the great Republic
And every thing it do
I hates the Declaration
Of Independence too.

I hates the nasty Eagle
with all its brag and fuss
And them rotten, stealing yankees,
I hates them wuss and wuss.

300,000 yankees,
Lie dead in Southern dust
We got 300,000
Before they conquered us

They died of Southern fever
Of Southern shot and shell;
I wish it was a million of them
Roasting now in hell.
