I've had good luck with the Mylex (flashpoint) 930 on the BH6. Like Sean, though, I can't get a CD-rom drive to boot with it, despite using the latest bios.

If you or anyone else wants a bargain on this, watch onsale.com .

They sell some there every day, and I got mine for $26 shipped this way.

We shall see. BTW, surely you tried the CD after the error, yes?

I have in the past but this time I did not...straight to the trash and covered with goo. So I tried making another one. Same problem and the CD did not work I did have one success. I tried an audio CD. The table of contents wrote at the beginning of the burn..the other attempts with data/software the table of contents writes at the end of the burn and that is when I get my error.

I have a Smart And Friendly (their name, not mine) 62xx SCSI CD-R to try out in that combo. I'd hate to use an IDE slot, esp. with a SCSI scanner and two CDroms.

I am thinking of using one IDE slot for the CDRW drive. The source CD drive will be SCSI as well as my scanner and a couple of SCSI harddrives.

I know what it is -- it's that virtual desktop <gg>.

Not this time<ggg>. The new machine is Win98 without a virtual desktop. The only common component is the SCSI controller and the recording software. I have the same problem with two different recording softwares.

I think the 930/932 are limited to 9gig disks, FWIW.

The Mylex documentation indicates it will support harddrives greater than 8 gig. Not an issue anyway. 4.5 gig SCSI drives seem to be the best deal. SCSI drives greater than 9 gig are out of the question for me.
