You say that you would be crying if you had been assigned Feb 70 puts and the market crashed and Dell dropped to 41. How would you feel if you currently own Dell at 83 and the market crashed and Dell went to 41. By selling the puts, you would be 13 dollers per share plus the premium richer than you would be in your current position.

Please, someone, help me with what I am missing.
One thing of note is that you must have the capital to pay for the stock if it gets assigned to you. If you do, then what is the failing in the strategy? Other than missing out on some of the biggest gains in Dell. It seems to me that the strategy really more defensive than risky.
