Thuy: I believe that COVD has co-lo'ed their DSLAM at the RBOC central office and in turn re-use RBOC local loop copper(or have them install it at the client premise via "agent" agreements if it's a new install). The back side of the DSLAM's plug into COVD's backbone network, but who actually provides it, ie. ATT, MCI-WCOM, et.al., I don't know.

As for the how of the profits question, particularly since in the above mentioned scenario they're in direct competition with RBOC local infrastructure....welll....me thinks they make profit in a manner similar to the CLEC(Competitive LEC) community. They get the loops at wholesale prices........will this suffice long term as a viable competitive offerring to the RBOC xDSL invasion I see looming on the horizon? Who can tell, eh?
